Reviews of this deck:
My order of the Zombie Tarot came in today, nicely wrapped up as a present. Delightfully retro, really nice box and booklet. Got it for a steal too. The price you can get it for does not reflect what you get for it.
Yeah, I have a dark and silly side so this suits me just fine!
I got mine in today for son and was really happy! The box it comes in is great, well constructed. The booklet, while small, has an aged look and is made to look like an od newspaper with adverts that are funny. The card stock is the biggest winner I think. Its great! I really like the thicker stock myself! The images are funny and whimsical! My son will love it!! Heck, even I really like it. And I got it at the pre-order price for under $12.
I just got mine today. I really like it. The cards are witty and some are funny. I love the voodoo High Priestess. It’s card stock is fantastic and I love the awesome little book it comes with. Very pleased! Do NOT buy it if you don’t have a morbid sense of humour! LOL
I am finding the cards are quite profound in their messages and symbolism. The fool is one of the best examples I have seen and the magician card, is he finding a cure or did he create the situation once you have your first, second or third look the real info starts to filter through. So give them a fair go before you dismiss them, you may be very surprised.
Just got my replacement copy of the zombie tarot from amazon. I had received a copy that turns out to be a bad print run. The cards weren’t of equal sides, the corners not rounded properly. I couldn’t shuffle it properly because it was so bad. I just received my replacement copy and it’s like night and day. So much better! I’m so glad I opted to return the original deck. This new copy has nicely rounded corners and all the cards are exactly the same size. I just need to double check all the cards are there and printed correctly and I’ll be all set.
I’ve had this tarot deck for years and never connected with it enough to actually use. I’m hoping to find someone who is more drawn to it than I! It’s a very beautiful deck with some really amazing artwork!
I have this deck. Great for themed parties and especially around Halloween but otherwise I don’t break them out often.
not everyone would like a tarot reading from these. If you don’t watch “walking dead” or have a bit of a twisted sense of humor, the macabre and graphic artwork might turn a lot of people off. But they definitely have their audience . They are part of my collection but I don’t use them often.
I love the Zombie Tarot! I’ve found this to be an excellent deck for readings about fears and/or feelings of being overwhelmed. I suppose it depends on your sense of humour but these cards seem to have funny ways of pointing out when I need to lighten up.
not fond of the card stock. It’s too heavy. The deck is a freaking brick. Once you get it shuffled and laid out, it’s still a lot better to read with than a serious reader would expect.
The side of the box is decorated with pictures of silver bullets to kill the zombies! I think that’s fantastic! I have done readings with this around Halloween and they’re always spot on accurate and fantastic!
i love this tarot deck but i do think they could have worked on their minor arcana a bit more… the overuse of trail lines to indicate movement is one thing i would have reworked.
I’ve found it amusing and fun, I’ve done a couple of readings with it for some friends and although accurate for them they were laughing at the images. I think Zombies reflect the state of mind of the population right now, everyone stuck in their own cubicle working like mindless drones.
While I’m not much on zombies, the book has a lot of really good information about Tarot in general. While not especially keen to read with it, I want to try some of the spreads
With respect to the creators of the deck, it’s not one that appeals to me. I try to use life-affirming images with clients and groups and this one only affirms the death-dealing culture that, unfortunately, surrounds us.
It’s very humorous! And friendly. I setting takes place in the 50’s and a zombie outbreak occurs. The “LWB” (which is not little or white) is to die for. It explains what the cards mean and it gives a good amount of spreads (such as the Eye Ball Spread). The card stock is marvelous and very durable (way better than Llywellyn’s card stock). Oh, the interior of the box has a sort of black velvet feel to it.
A friend of mine really enjoyed this deck. She’s a collector and not a reader and was very enchanted with the design aspects of the deck. It was well made, thought through and lovely in the hands. If that’s what you’re looking for you should certainly consider it.
It’s actually a lot “prettier” a deck that I would have originally given it credit for. I also really liked the High Priestess card. I don’t own it but I’m a buyer for my friend’s store, and I suggested it to be stocked in the store. It’s certainly considered a “novelty” deck, but it has more meat than a novelty deck, it would seem.
I love this deck and find it very useful for readings when either myself or a friend (fiend?) are feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges. The deck has a way of making me see the funny side of things. Nothing is ever going to be worse than a zombie apocalypse is it? It’s all about context tongue emoticon
I must admit Ive never been attracted to this deck or promoted to look deeper at the cards because I do I don’t particularly like the box.. but the cards here look quirky in a dark kind of way, they would make an interesting addiction to a collection, not sure they would have reading value for me, but in a balanced collection they would work well.
I’ve had this deck since its release. I love the cards, but I’ve been a zombie lover since waaay before they became trendy. Am a huge fan of Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead” and many of these cards are very reminiscent of that movie. Just my two cents. I do have some difficulty reading with them for just that reason. I get caught up in thinking about how the cards relate to zombies on film and lose the actual meaning of the card.
I love mine, too, with its great retro television and movie visual allusions from the Fifties and Sixties. It’s pretty and grisly at the same time – lots of fun like kitschy horror movies. In fact, it prompted me to watch and appreciate the original film “Night of the Living Dead” much more than I ever did before! Getting back to the deck and the book, the colors, art, and writing are top drawer!
